Treatment Procedure
There are four steps to the truly bespoke and customized treatment solutions by SCHWIND AMARIS.
STEP ONE
Diagnostic Measurements
The first step in the CustomEyes process involves detailed diagnostic measurements using advanced SCHWIND diagnostic devices. These high-resolution tools, such as the SCHWIND MS-39 and PERAMIS, capture precise data about your entire optical system, including both the cornea and the lens.
By mapping up to 150,000 unique points on the cornea’s surface and taking up to 45,000 data points of the entire eye, these devices provide a comprehensive view of any irregularities or aberrations.
This detailed mapping is crucial for creating a personalized treatment plan that targets the specific needs of each patient’s eyes, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and effectiveness.
STEP TWO
Refractive Exports
After the diagnostic measurements are complete, the gathered data is exported to the SCHWIND system for detailed analysis. This step involves transferring the refractive data, which includes information about the eye’s shape, curvature, and any refractive errors, to the SCHWIND AMARIS planning software.
This export ensures that all necessary data is available for the next stage, enabling precise customization of the treatment plan. The accurate export of refractive data is vital for tailoring the laser settings to each individual’s unique eye characteristics, ensuring optimal results.
STEP THREE
Treatment Planning
Once the diagnostic measurements are complete, the next step is personalized treatment planning using the intelligent SCHWIND treatment planning software. This software leverages the data from the diagnostic devices to create a customized treatment profile for each patient.
It identifies all aberrations automatically and optimizes the treatment plan to ensure minimal tissue removal while achieving or maintaining the highest possible visual acuity. The software considers the significant higher-order aberrations to look for best unaided vision and maintaining corneal stability as much as possible .
This meticulous planning phase is essential for achieving optimal results with minimal risk.
STEP FOUR
Premium Laser Treatment
The final step in the CustomEyes process is the actual laser treatment using the SCHWIND AMARIS laser system. This system is renowned for its precision and safety, featuring a high-speed laser with a frequency of up to 1050 hertz and an impressive eye tracking system with up to 7 dimensions (‘zero latency’).
The eye tracker compensates for even the smallest eye movements in real time, ensuring that the laser pulses are delivered exactly where needed. This precise application in combination with SCHWIND AMARIS wavefront technology allows to efficiently remove the patient eye individual irregularities as needed.
Furthermore, SmartPulse technology enables the laser to achieve smooth corneal surfaces, enhancing visual recovery. The result is a highly customized treatment that provides the best possible visual outcomes for each patient.
